When asked about an important lesson she learned from childhood, Clari or Dolly as her parents call her, points out a quote by the football superstar Pele: “Success is no accident.” Finding success means working hard, and working hard is being deliberate and decisive.
Clari has a dream. Her dream is to become a flight attendant. But before she flies off in the near future, she needs to work towards her goal.
Growing up, Clari worked on developing herself, her attitude towards work and towards her dreams. She says, “Life is about hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing.” Indeed, it is only through hard work that one can achieve one's dreams. But for Clari, every work is important, even with household chores that she loves doing.
We saw how she was being decisive and deliberate in her pre-debut session. We photographed her in two locations in Malungon, Sarangani Province. The first shoot concept was hers. “One of my dreams to travel and experience the cherry blossom during spring season in Japan. This is why i chose “sakura” as a concept for my session,” she explains.
While there are no sakura trees in Malungon, there is a field known to have Tabebuia trees, which also has pink blossoms. We were lucky that the Tabebuia trees were blooming with pink flowers at the time of the shoot. Otherwise, Clari would have thought of other ways to make her concept into a reality.
Clari's fascination for sakura inspired her to wear a mini black kimono with sakura blossom prints. We photographed her as she posed in the field with Tabebuia trees. At one point, she picks up a Tabebuia tree flower and holds it up to the camera. It is not the sakura blossom that she yearns for, but it was a flower also worthy of her beauty.
It was already dusk when we made our way back to General Santos City. But before going home, we stopped by a steel bridge to shoot a night session with Clari wearing her blush pink gown by Jana Janeo. We styled Clari's hair in a 'do that highlighted her raven locks, and touched her face up with make-up that highlighted her cheekbones and eyes.
Clari wore her blush pink gown with confidence. She knew her angles, giving us poses that were perfectly captured. In her blush pink gown, Clari looked like the pink blossom she had picked up earlier that day. Clari has blossomed herself.
Clari already has the confidence and grace of a woman grown wiser than her years. With her determination, she will further her journey towards her dreamed successes. We raise a toast!
